What is a celebration of life?

A celebration of life service is a type of end-of-life ceremony where people come together to celebrate the unique life of the deceased. Celebrations of life are commonly held after physical remains have been cared for through burial or cremation. However, celebrations of life can also be integrated with traditional services, as well, at a funeral home, church or other venue. They are meant to provide a more unique and personalized representation of the life of your loved one.

Why choose this type of service?

Using my services allows you to make better decisions about how you'd like to celebrate the life of someone you dearly love who passed away.

Today, many people are looking towards celebrations of life, which focus on the entirety of their loved one’s journey here on earth, rather than concentrating on their death.

I can help introduce you to this concept and provide support, from start to finish, in designing a service that is as unique as the life of your loved one.

While it can be a challenge to put together an event that both memorializes and celebrates the life, spirit, and individuality of one’s life, it is also one of the most rewarding things any one of us can do for someone we've loved and lost. In fact, we take the focus away from the feeling of loss, and embrace the life of the individual, how they affected their loved ones and community, and what we can do to carry on that legacy.

Why “Bright Mournings?”

Bright Mournings is a unique to our area, and is a celebration of life planning business here in Louisiana. It is unlike any service you can find here in Lafayette, that allows families a more relaxed and personalized planning service, catered to combining the unavoidable good-byes with the beautiful legacies and life of their loved ones, on full display.

Whether we are working within funeral homes or outside of them, you will be able to focus on yourselves, your friends and your family, not the logistics.

I can collaborate with churches, funeral directors, caterers, florists, musicians, family and friends to make sure the service runs smoothly, from start to finish. Before and after the services, I will be making sure that you are left with no worries to add to your plate!

Much like a wedding planner, I will be there every step of the way, and will only be working for you…one family at a time.

When all is said and done, you will feel not only at ease, but proud of the presentation of the life and legacy of your loved one. They will be celebrated in an intimate, personalized service they truly deserve.

My experience in many areas of community service has given me the well-rounded experience that is needed to handle loss delicately, with empathy and authenticity. My 8 years as an educator in Lafayette provided me with invaluable insight to what family units look like today, and the importance of them. By volunteering with critically ill, elderly, palliative care, and end-of-life patients, including my own mother, I have been transformed into someone who truly understands the value of each life. Because of this, I am able to handle grief differently, with a special perspective that helps families during their darkest times. God has called me to this purpose, and I hope to be of service to you or your family, when the time comes.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
